The new edition, with revised content and methodology, began in 2019.

The method comprises three levels of learning:

1. The academic level, consisting of course content, magisterial texts, selected studies on DSC and in-depth reading materials;
2. An experiential level, which helps to personalise the content through workshop activities, group discussions, short papers to be written at the end of each session and a final dissertation;
3. A wisdom-based level in which, through the more spiritual dimension that underpins DSC, each participant can discern and take action to change their own behaviour.

The sessions comprise seven modules, three of which are residential and four online, designed as training programmes focused on Integral Human Development and Solidarity.

The three residential sessions in Rome take place from Saturday morning until 1.00 pm on Sunday and are held at the residence of the Sisters of Maria Bambina opposite the Vatican.

The programme for Saturday is organised as follows:

1. A time of spiritual reflection
2. An exploration of the DSC theme with a speaker
3. A communal lunch
4. A testimony from a member of the Foundation
5. Group work
6. The celebration of the Eucharist

Sunday’s programme includes:

7. A lectio divina
8. An in-depth exploration of a specific theme relating to social ethics or an encyclical of the DSC
9. The Angelus prayer with the Pope
10. A final sharing session and the distribution of the bibliography

The course runs for two years; upon completion, participants will be required to submit a final project summarising their learning and experience, and will receive a certificate of attendance signed by the Foundation’s President.

The dates scheduled for the three residential sessions are: 23–24 January 2021; 20–21 March 2021; 15–16 May 2021.

The dates for the four online lessons are: 8 February 2021; 1 March 2021; 12 April 2021; 3 May 2021.

The Scientific Director of the course is Fr Francesco Occhetta S.I., a Jesuit, journalist and writer, and lecturer at the Pontifical Gregorian University.
