A conversation with Prof. Recep Senturk on the occasion of the publication of his book on the topic.”

Objective: Drawing on the book by Prof. Recep Senturk, published in 2025, on “Adamiyyah. I am, therefore I have rights and duties”, the Webinar aims at discussing the social economic and institutional arrangements that would promote dialogue on  and compliance with human rights at local, national and international level. The experience so far at the United Nations and in other fora as well as in many national and local contexts has not been very encouraging in spite of several waves of reforms and widespread good intentions. Investing in deepening the ethical foundations of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, signed in Paris on 10 December 1948, and promoting the role that interreligious dialogue can play in that investment, particularly involving the universal religions of the Mediterranean, might be a promising way forward. But the social economic and institutional frameworks that would enable that dialogue, with a focus on dealing with poverty, unemployment and inequality, need to be focused upon and discussed. The Centesimus Annus Pro Pontifice Foundation in cooperation with the Gregorian University and the Catholic institute of the Mediterranean, and other players, intends to launch an initiative of study, reflection and discussion on the social economic and policy issues that could favor those perspectives orienting them towards peace and development.
