DESCRIPTION:Dear all\, \n\nIt has been some time since the London Chapter of the Centesimus Annus Foundation has convened. \n\n\nWith the recent publication of Pope Leo’s first encyclical\, Magnifica Humanitas\, this is as good a time as any to have structured conversations around the meaning and dignity of work\, the opportunities and threats presented by AI across many spheres of life\, and to consider the importance of spreading the good news of a true Christian anthropology. In other words\, publicly articulating the truth about the human person has never been more important than now\, when technological hubris threatens to undermine the very substance of our humanity. Equally\, there are many opportunities arising from technological shifts\, if proper guardrails are set and if they are oriented towards the common good. \n\n\nFor reference: https://www.vatican.va/content/leo-xiv/en/encyclicals/documents/20260515-magnifica-humanitas.html \n\n\nThis is an occasion to consider how\, in the age of AI\, the Church’s teachings about the human person can percolate across civil society\, the charity sector\, the public sector\, the private sector\, and across academic institutions. \n\n\nWe welcome thoughts and contributions on the subject. \n\n\nArchbishop John Wilson\, our Ecclesiastical Counselor\, has kindly offered to host us again at his Cathedral in Southwark. \n\n\nWe will convene at Archbishop’s House on Tuesday 30th June from 6:30pm – 8pm for a structured discussion on the encyclical around a glass of wine. \n\n\nSome of us may continue on to dinner together. \n\n\nMore details to follow. \n\n\nThis invitation is personal and non-transferable.
