SUMMARY:BARCELONA: October 7th WEBINAR entitled: “Amoris Laetitia and family formation at the age of education: Does adequate housing play a role?
DESCRIPTION:The Centesimus Annus Pro Pontifice Foundation (FCAPP) is pleased to invite you to the Webinar: \n“Amoris Laetitia and family formation at the age of higher education: Does adequate housing play a role?” \nOrganized together with the FCAPP Barcelona Chapter \n7 October 2026\, 18 p.m. to 19.30 p.m. Rome time (CET) \nConcept: The problem of student accommodation at the level of University and Graduate Schools causes increasing concerns for young people and society at large. The Barcelona and the Madrid Chapters of the FCAPP are carrying out studies on the issue with quite relevant and interesting results that will be presented at the Webinar. On the occasion of the “Summit on the Family” that has been convened at the Vatican in October 2026\, we would like to discuss the progress made by the Barcelona Chapter study. We wish also to link it to the issue of family formation of young people. We are seeing in advanced modern societies both a trend of increasing number of years spent in the educational system\, and a trend of growing age for people to form a family. Are those trends related? And/or could they fruitfully interact enabling both more investment in education and more opportunities for family formation? This would imply however that facilities and resources would be provided for young people to form families also in their 20’s (rather than only later)\, i.e. when they attend graduate schools or specialization courses. Is this feasible? How much it would cost? Would the welfare system be able to extend its reach towards education\, the young couples\, etc.? What kind of partnerships between public and private resources should be mobilized? We would like to discuss the set of issues above asking social scientists\, educators\, psychologists and experts in Catholic Social Teaching to contribute.
