On the strength of his previous experience in helping the workers in Prato, who are engaged in grueling shifts of 12 hours a day, seven days a week, Fr Helmut recounts a heavy reality of neglect. In the industrial area of Forl\u00ec, these workers live in very difficult conditions: they sleep in concrete shacks covered with rusted and perforated metal sheets, exposed to the cold and rain. There are very few useful items for daily life: a shared bathroom and a precarious electric hotplate. \u2018Their routine is always the same: work-work-work and more work,\u2019 says Don Helmut. \u2018In order of time, this is the latest stage of a journey that is being made together with a network of solidarity with the aim of helping to protect and promote the dignity of people and work.
