The Centesimus Annus Pro Pontifice Foundation (FCAPP) is pleased to invite you to the Webinar:
“The Discipline of Resistance: Beyond Postures in Environmental Thought”
Prof. Rabbi David Meyer
Professor in Rabbinic Literature and Contemporary Jewish Thought
Gregorian Pontifical University, Rome
Organized by the FCAPP in cooperation with the Gregorian University (Rome) and the Institut Catholique de la Méditerranée (Marseille)
The environmental issue between biblical tradition, ethics and contemporary ethical responsibility.
On 28 January 2026, a webinar dedicated to the environmental issue will be held, promoted by CAPPF and designed as a space for critical reflection and interdisciplinary dialogue. The meeting will address the ethical and conceptual challenges posed by the contemporary ecological crisis, going beyond a merely moral or devotional reading of the relationship between human beings and nature. The webinar will take the form of a participatory event and will be led by Prof. Rabbi Dr. David Meyer, scholar of Rabbinic Literature and Contemporary Jewish Thought, together with Prof. Massimo Gargiulo, professor of Theology and Deputy Director of the “Cardinal Bea” Centre for Jewish Studies. Through the reading and critical analysis of classical rabbinical texts, the speakers will offer an in-depth discussion on the theme of “human dominion” in the biblical tradition, questioning its limits, ambiguities and possible alternatives. The aim of the webinar is to offer rigorous conceptual tools for rethinking the human stance towards the environment, bringing together ecological urgency, responsibility towards future generations and the complexity of the present.
This Webinar is the third of a series on “The Social Doctrine of the Mediterranean”, which builds on the “Theology of the Mediterranean” to analyze the possible contribution of Abrahamic dialogue to economic social and policy thinking
